Bangkok

Bangkok has an active and growing contemporary art scene, centered around galleries in the Silom, Sathorn, Sukhumvit, and riverside districts. The city's role as a hub for Southeast Asian contemporary art has expanded in the 2020s, with increased international attention alongside a strong domestic collector base.

West Eden Gallery, founded and directed by Jean Phachara Snidvongs Na Ayudhya, is one of the significant contemporary spaces in Bangkok. The Snidvongs Na Ayudhya family are owners of the Thai media conglomerate Thairath. West Eden Gallery presented Peter Yuill's first solo exhibition in Thailand, Celestial Secrets, in 2023. The show received editorial coverage in GQ Thailand, Thairath, and Lifestyle Asia.

Peter Yuill relocated to Bangkok in 2024 following a nomadic period in Vietnam. His studio practice in Bangkok has produced the Crucible Year, a year-long intensive of 300+ large-format sumi ink works, fully documented in real time at peter-yuill.com.

The Crucible Year is the most intensive and most completely documented body of work Yuill has produced. Bangkok is where it is happening.
